How do you set the floats in a 1988 Evinrude 50 carburator?
Rebuilt carbs didnt know you had to set the floats. How do you do this?

- Hold the carb body upside down and level in front of your face. The float should hang perfectly parallel with the top edge of the casting. If it doesn't, bend the float arm ever so slightly. You can check the operation of the float valves by blowing through the fuel inlet. Rightside up, should be very little resistance. Upside down, no air should pass. Some of these carbs have a hole you have to stop up with your finger for this test, it's covered by a gasket when the carb is installed.
