- Haven't had one in a long time. Frost a glass mug. Pour in some good (cold) Root Beer (A&W or Mug). Drop some good quality vanilla ice cream in scoop by scoop. A straw and chilled ice tea spoon complete it. Personally I'd stick with vanilla but it's 'your' float, if chocolate ice cream floats yours, do it. PS- Never thought about trying another flavor ice cream, now thinking cherry-vanilla or rasberry swirl might be worth a try ,-) PPS- When you pour in the Root Beer, go for about 2/3rds full. It's still going to overflow, but that's part of the experience.
- You can only make root beer floats using root beer. Put a scoop of ice cream into a ice chilled glass (preferably a mug). Pour root beer into glass (mug) until full. You can use whatever flavour ice cream floats your boat.
- If your eating it, you can make it anyway you want... I'm a coca cola fan and love to make coke floats. I would use vanilla so I didn't ruin the flavor of the coke though...But you can do what you want! =D That is the beauty of a free country!
- Put 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream in a large glass or cup, slowly pour in root beer to the top. Wait for the foam to go down before adding. If you use cola, its called a "Black cow", if you use grape drink, a "Purple cow". I guess you could use chocolate, but it doesn't sound like it would taste good.
- Of course you can use Coke. Just not Diet Coke or Coke Zero. Don't ask why, just promise you'll never cheapen the experience of a float by adding diet anthing. I like to Rainbow Sherbert and 7up. My favorite is A&W root beer and Shur-fine Vanilla Ice Cream. OR RC Cola and Vanilla Ice Cream.
- thanks a lot , now i have to go home + make vanilla ice cream + get some barq's root beer . man , i had other things to do
- My husband and son tried all the rootbeers they could find on the grocery store shelves, and decided they liked Barq's the best in a rootbeer float. And they always use vanilla ice cream.
